Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about Tecopa Hot Springs Resort?

Where is Tecopa Hot Springs Resort?

We are located at 860 Tecopa Hot Springs Rd in Tecopa, California. We are located 80 miles west of the Las Vegas strip, and about 4.5 hours from Los Angeles. We’re only 10 miles away from the southeastern entrance into Death Valley National Park and less than 1.5 hours from Furnace Creek Visitors Center. We offer a great alternative to staying inside the Park while here visiting Death Valley.

What do you have at Tecopa Hot Springs Resort?

We have for rent:

Cabins that sleep 2, or cabins with kitchenettes that sleep 3

Campground for RV’s with full hookups (water, sewer, 30 amp power)

5 first-come, first-serve, private hot springs tub rooms for use by overnight guests

When is Tecopa Hot Springs Resort open?

We are open from October through May.

How hot are your hot spring tubs and how do they work?

Our hot springs hover about 104 degrees Fahrenheit, but they can vary by a few degrees. They are a flow-through design; meaning there’s a constant incoming flow, and a constant outgoing flow. This keeps the water at a fairly consistent temperature as the water completely replaces itself in about an hour. About 2-3 people can fit comfortably. As a guest, you have 21 hour-a-day access to the tubs, as they are closed every afternoon for cleaning. They are first-come, first-serve between the guests. After a mandatory shower, you choose an empty tub room, go in and latch the door behind you. Most people soak between 5 and 30 minutes at a time and you can use the baths as often as you like, so everyone has a chance to use the hot springs tubs.

Can I soak if I’m not staying the night?

At this time, we are not offering day passes for soaking. Our hot spring tubs are open for overnight guests only.

Can I bring my dog or other pet Tecopa Hot Springs resort?

We do not allow pets in our motel rooms. But our campground and cabins are pet-friendly. We just ask that they stay leashed and picked up after at all times.

Are kids allowed at Tecopa Hot Springs Resort?

Kids of any age are welcome to stay but we urge parents to use extreme caution for hot springs tub use. We don’t recommend that children use the tubs as they are sometimes too hot for young bodies to handle. We leave it up to the parent’s discretion and responsibility to decide if their children can use the baths responsibly. They need to be supervised at all times and know that horseplay, jumping into the baths, splashing water, and being loud are not allowed. We want to respect other guests who are using the shared space to relax and be provided a peaceful environment to do so.

Is there cell service? Is there Wi-Fi?

If you’re looking for a place to disconnect, Tecopa Hot Springs Resort is the place for you. We do not have Wifi at the resort, nor is there cell phone service anywhere in the Tecopa region. There is, however, a public open WiFi network provided by the library. This signal can be reached anywhere near the library or the Community Center buildings, which is right next door and across the street from us.

Can I drink the water?

Although we have a cold well that provides water for the showers, sinks, and toilets, it is very high in minerals and we don’t recommend drinking it or using it for cooking. Bring enough water with you or bring refillable jugs to use Tecopa’s water dispensing kiosk. It’s 25 cents a gallon and is located a couple of miles from the resort.

Are there stores or gas stations in Tecopa?

There isn’t a store or gas station in Tecopa, so fill up and come prepared with everything you need. There is a small convenience store and gas station 8 miles north in Shoshone.

Are there restaurants in Tecopa?

There are several eateries and breweries in Tecopa. Please call ahead for operating hours.

Where can I ride my off-road vehicle?

Dumont Dunes is a favorite place for off-road enthusiasts to stretch their wheels. There’s plenty of off-highway roads to explore, but please follow all BLM rules and most importantly, do not ride off of established trails. We also do not allow off-road vehicles to be ridden anywhere on our property. Leave no trace.
